Two sinuous
silhouettes plod down Bond Street
Massive yet limber
Menacing to some
Yet so sweet in their candor
White as snow
Regal as the peaks they summon in their memory
Thor and Ophelia
Two Great Pyrenees
White on white
At one with the elements
Meander innocently
Down in the Bowery
Reconnecting with lost instincts
They embrace the tempest, the icy winds, the flurries
And in a somersault
Bow to the majesty
Of the Great Pyrenees
So do I, myself
a native
Ah! Dear Pyrenees
Summits of my childhood
Lofty landmass climbing to the stars
So pure it elevates my thoughts
High
Higher
To the perennial snow that shrouds the secrets of our heritage
Thor and Ophelia
Two Great Pyrenees
White on white
At one with the elements
Meander innocently back home
Do they miss the
great heights
The great chain that stretches at infinitum
The crystal-clear skies
The peaks that stubbornly rear their crowned heads
To heaven's breaths?
I ponder as the
flakes perform a graceful dance past my window
The world is at a standstill
Let's dance with the dove that peeked in
Early this morning
